Diverse participants—some with extensive dance experience and others new to the art form—joined me on a journey to co-create a new dance work, drawing inspiration from each participant's unique ancestries.
During the creative development period, we merged empirical research into cultural dance with speculative histories, and the work became a powerful dialogue between history and the contemporary self.
The resulting ensemble performance combines a rich tapestry of diverse lived experiences and exudes metaphor, intergenerational depth, and relational significance.
Together we created a world where dance reminds us to hold precious our coordinates of belonging.
